Artist Story

Rooted in the ancient landscapes and vibrant heritage of Dura in the Hebron Governorate, Abd Al-Hameed Al-Sous grew up attuned to the rich visual textures of Palestine. His artistic journey began with a formal immersion into the tactile arts of ceramics and glassโ€”mediums that instilled in him a deep appreciation for form, raw materials, and precision.

As his creative path expanded onto canvas and public architecture, Al-Sous transformed his surroundings into a canvas of collective identity. Realizing that art holds the power to shape memory and unite communities, he turned to mural art, transforming public walls into living stories through over 200 murals. His dedication extended beyond his own studio practice into leadership, taking on the role of President of the Fine Arts Forum Association. Through endless workshops, exhibitions, and international exchanges, Al-Sous continues to dedicate his journey to nurturing the next generation of Palestinian artists and taking the stories of his homeland to the global stage.

Artist Statement

*"Art is a vessel for collective consciousness, creative expression, and aesthetic awareness. I view every canvas and public wall not merely as a surface to paint, but as a bridge connecting our rich cultural identity to the wider world. My practice across oil, acrylic, ceramics, and muralism reflects a commitment to documenting the resilience, beauty, and spirit of our land.

Beyond individual creation, I believe that the true vitality of an artistic movement lies in community and mentorship. By creating spaces for young artists to showcase their voices and by bringing visual art into everyday public life, we cultivate a deeper visual culture that honors our heritage while building a creative future."* โ€” Abd Al-Hameed Al-Sous
